DESCRIPTION:An exhibition by Return Recovery and Wellbeing Workshops. \nThe word kaleidoscope is derived from the Ancient Greek words “Kalos” meaning “beautiful”\, “eidos” meaning “that which is seen” and “skopeo” meaning “to look”. \nKaleidoscope is an exhibition of creative pieces from those with lived experience of mental illness. It shows their stories\, passion and the importance of creativity and art in the journey towards recovery. Creative pursuits and art in all forms is an excellent way to not only help cope with mental distress\, but also to express what you are feeling and to share your experiences in a way words might not. \nThe pressure we can feel from society for experiencing mental distress is a heavy load to bear. Stigma is an injustice\, that thrives in the dark. Be part of the light through Kaleidoscope. \nA Kaleidoscope works on the principle of reflection. We hope that this exhibit allows the community a chance to see a different side of mental health\, and reflect on their own views. \nLet’s challenge the stigma of mental illness together. \n\nPlease join us at the opening event for Kaleidoscope on Saturday 10th October\, 10am-12pm. \nThe Nancy Caiger Gallery is open 11am-2pm from Wednesday to Saturday.
