SUMMARY:FRIENDSFRIENDS OF FRIENDSFRIENDS
DESCRIPTION:FRIENDSFRIENDS OF FRIENDSFRIENDS by Vincent Nielsen \nThis exhibit is a collection of people who the artist has met in dreams. A set of acquaintances from life\, melted over time through the haze of memory\, dreamt over and melted onto canvas as an attempt to recall all social interactions. Some of them are friends\, some of them less desirable. \nCome and see if you recognize yourself. \n\nInterrogating the way memory and recording of events can sometimes be at odds with one another Oliver “Vincent Nielsen” Stewart works in an array of media and mediums to communicate abstract recollections of a lifetime of experiences. Living in Kirikiriroa for 16 years\, long appreciating the changing nature of the city\, he attempts to capture the essence of the people that roam the streets\, work in offices\, live in the suburbs and make the city the cultural hub that often goes ignored. Primarily working as a painter of neo expressionist art\, Vincent commits memory to canvas and obfuscates the clues under layers of ink\, spray\, oil and acrylic paint. \n\nPlease join us at the opening event for FRIENDSFRIENDS OF FRIENDSFRIENDS on Sat 28th Feb\, 10am. \nThe Nancy Caiger Gallery is open 11am-2pm from Wednesday to Saturday. If you’d like to visit this exhibition outside of these opening hours\, please email kiaora@themeteor.co.nz

SUMMARY:Parade
DESCRIPTION:Tony Award-winning Parade explores the endurance of love and hope against all odds. With a book by acclaimed playwright Alfred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy) and a rousing\, colorful and haunting score by Jason Robert Brown. Parade is a moving examination of the darkest corners of America’s history.\n\nIn 1913\, Leo Frank\, a Brooklyn-raised Jew living in Georgia\, is put on trial for the murder of Mary Phagan\, a factory worker under his employ. Already guilty in the eyes of everyone around him\, a sensationalist publisher and a janitor’s false testimony seal Leo’s fate. His only defenders are a governor with a conscience and his assimilated Southern wife\, who finds the strength and love to become his greatest champion.\n\nDaring\, innovative and bold\, Parade is filled with soaring music and a heart-wrenching story\, offering a moral lesson about the dangers of prejudice and ignorance that should not be forgotten. \n\nRunning time: 150mins \n\n\n\nPG 13 \nContent warning: This show contains themes of racism and antisemitism. It also contains references to sexual violence and death.
