How do we remember our loved ones? What are the ways we recall what they mean to us?

IĒNA PASIFIKA is proud to present our very first showcase; MA’ARA. Meaning ‘remember’ in Te Reo Māori Kūki ‘Āirani, MA’ARA is an exploration of memory and family through playwriting and performance.

MA’ARA comprises original solo works by young Kirikiriroa writers who will also be performing these as well; Jasmine Neal, Elizabeth Ruck-Nu’u, Rosalie Norton, Brooklyn Lee, and Georgia-Ray Fatupaito-Pooley. Each participant has been working on their pieces since May, and each piece was prompted by a memory of a loved one in their lives.

Whether they’re a family member who has passed or the world’s most excellent guinea pig, each piece is a celebration of the love we have for those closest to us. Entry to MA’ARA is free and open to whānau, friends and supporters of our writers and IĒNA PASIFIKA. See the kind of amazing work that our māpū have to offer!

MA’ARA is at The Meteor Theatre on November 13 at 7pm.
