Soliloquy by James Smith

Unable to spread the ashes of his late father, Hamish sits at the top of a cliff, overlooking a sea of fog. Here he meets Olivia, a young woman on a similar journey. Together they attempt to understand mortality, love, mental health, and try to find the answers to life’s most important question: are ghosts real? Written and directed by Jam Smith (‘Four Kings’, ‘wish i was there’), and produced by Infinite Monkey (‘wish i was there’, ‘We Have Boys at Home’), Soliloquy is a modern recontextualisation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, and an exploration of how our experiences, our relationships, and our interactions with media influence our worldview, and who we are as human beings.

Content warnings: existentialist themes, discussions of suicide

HIKO! is a perfectly curated selection for theatre fanatics, creatives and those looking for modern storytelling that has you on the edge of your seat! Don’t miss the chance to experience these electrifying Kirikiriroa voices:

  • Don’t Mention It by Nathan Higgins
  • Bottle Episode by Rye Inglis
  • Daylight Savings by Melanie Allison
  • Soliloquy by James Smith
