Toi Wāhine – The World’s Wife

Saturday, 4th August, 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

The Real Housewives of History Tell All!

Celebrity wives from history dish the dirt on their famous husbands and reveal the truth behind the myths!   You know them as heroes of fable and fairy-tale, scientists, artists and gangsters –  but find out what really went on behind the fame and in the minds of those who knew them best – their wives!

Behind every famous man is a great woman – and from the long-suffering Mrs Aesop to the sophisticated Mrs Beast, from the adoring Queen Kong to the soulful Anne Hathaway, each one steps out to tell her side of the story..

Original, subversive, feminist, full of imagination and wit, The World’s Wife is Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy at her best. The poems will be bought to life in a staged reading by a range of local women, all bringing their own unique take on these celebrity wives of the past. Come along for a history lesson like no other!

Readers include: Cian Gardner/ Sarah Nathan/ Charlotte Isaac / Jan Maree/ Leafa Wilson / Maree Mills/ Margaret Evans / Rachel Pope / Maria Eaton/ Hannah and Missy Mooney and other surprise guests!
