Fresh from their stints in Wellington and Tauranga, Waikato theatre’s favourite brown guys Antony-Paul Aiono and Benny Marama are coming home to The Meteor Theatre for one last Spot.
TAHI TA’I TASI presents Spot the Difference; an exploration of identity from the unique perspective of two Hamilton-based theatre practitioners (who also both happen to be Polynesian). Two friends decide to write a show highlighting the typical life of any theatre-loving Pasifika person. Countless as the voices may be on this topic, they believe their work could help shed more light and add more brown.
Featuring original music and terrible choreography, it is an acceptance and a celebration of the differences between us (as well as reminding audiences that it’s the 21st Century, and racism is still kinda sucky).
The show also features a sneak preview of Cove Theatre’s upcoming show Rauru, which explores concepts of family, identity and loss through the story of Ruby, Ata, and their ailing grandmother. Written by Cian Gardner and Karina Nathan and directed by Kathleen Christian, Rauru is a story told with gentleness, humour and compassion about people you will recognise, maybe even within yourself.
Don’t miss your chance to Spot the Difference one last time at The Meteor Theatre!
