About the exhibition:
Part of the nationwide indigenous art protect ‘The Colynesians’, TE IKA AO O TE RANGI – THE LIGHT FISH OF THE SKY remembers the great navigators who were guided by the Milky Way (Te Ikaroa a Māui – the long fish of Māui) to a fish caught by Māui for them to live on. The exhibition acts as a comparison to how “New Zealand” was “discovered” by Captain Cook.
