Dance Folkus 19th Century Ball
Saturday, 29th June 2019 , 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm
**EARLY BIRD TICKETS AVAILABLE UNTIL MAY 31***
You are invited to join Dance Folkus for a convivial evening of dancing popular dances from 19th Century Europe to live music.
Your dance card will include dances from the regency-style dances popularised in Jane Austen’s novels through courtly quadrilles and cotillons of the Victorian era to the scandalising waltz and olde-time partner dances circa 1900. Some of these dance styles have endured to the modern day like barn dances, the polka and the Veleta. There will be dance floor instruction and calling for all dances.
Period dress is encouraged and adds to the fun – channel your inner Elizabeth Bennett or Mr D’Arcy; your young Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, or even imagine yourself as a guest at a grand party at Downton Abbey! Or even time travel and give your steam punk Victoriana outfits a whirl.
A light supper will be served and a cash bar will be available.
Preparatory dance classes available in Hamilton beforehand over May/June- contact email@example.com or 022 340 7865 (class fees apply)
Dance programme and links will be posted in advance of the event to ticket holders.
